RootsTech 2016 to Celebrate Families Across Generations

RootsTech, hosted by FamilySearch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be held February 3–6, 2016, in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is the largest family history conference in the world and attracts tens of thousands of participants worldwide.

Attendees can expect a full lineup of inspirational keynote speakers, over 200 educational classes, exciting hands-on activities in the expo hall and entertaining evening events, all designed to help celebrate families across generations.

As part of the conference, Family Discovery Day will take place on Saturday, February 6, 2016. An event filled with motivational stories and insightful tips for strengthening family connections and researching family history, Family Discovery Day will be streamed live on LDS.org.

RootsTech draws well-known industry experts, entertainers and authors as its keynote speakers. Some of the speakers featured at this year’s conference are Bruce Feiler, New York Times bestselling author; Doris Kearns Goodwin, world-renowned U.S. presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize–winning author; Paula Williams Madison, award-winning journalist; and Stephen Rockwood, president and CEO of FamilySearch International and managing director for the Family History Department of the Church.

FamilySearch is a service provided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is the largest genealogy organization in the world. Since 1894, FamilySearch has worked with archives, libraries and churches in over 100 countries to facilitate economical access to records that help people find their ancestors.

FamilySearch’s commitment to helping people connect with their ancestors is rooted in the Mormon belief that families are meant to be central to our lives and that family relationships are intended to continue beyond this life. Because interest in family history is not limited by culture, ethnicity, or religious faith, FamilySearch’s resources are available to everyone who wants to discover more about their family and their heritage, from church records in Europe to oral histories in Africa.

“RootsTech is the premier event for people who care about family history,” author Bruce Feiler said. “I’ve become a passionate believer in the importance of telling your family history as a foundational tool for having a happy family. I can’t think of a better audience to share my own story with.”

Several sessions of the conference will be streamed live on the RootsTech website. Once the conference is over, recordings of these sessions will be posted on the website for a limited time.
