Toronto members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently joined colleagues and friends at St. Basil’s Catholic Parish in Toronto to thank God for His creation. “The Creation Comes From God, and We Play a Part in It” was the topic for pondering the magnificence of the Earth and the blessings it brings to all human beings.

Father Prakash Anthony Lohale, director of the Ecumenical and Interfaith Affairs Office of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto, said, “Practical and creative initiatives are part of the movement to recharge our sense of hope and deepen our spiritual roots. These inspire us to feel connected and motivated to live out our faith in caring for creation.”
Representatives of different faiths, including Jeana Wilson, director of public affairs for the Toronto Ontario Stake, were invited to speak about the beauty of the Earth. Wilson reflected afterward, “It was an honour to be part of the celebrations hosted by our friends of the Catholic Church in recognizing the miracle of creation. We saw the fulfilling of Psalm 104:33: ‘I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.’ Expressions of gratitude for all things from our Creator were conveyed through song, music, dance, rituals and the spoken word in an unforgettable evening enjoyed with old and new friends.”
Bishop Phil Barker of the Toronto Ontario Ward observed, “It was inspiring to attend the Feast of the Creation service with brothers and sisters of different faiths and witness first-hand the shared faith in and appreciation for Heavenly Father for creating the Earth. A great spirit of gratitude enveloped all who attended.”
